Verb Tenses & Irregular Verbs (Grade 3)


What This Section Is About:

This section helps students understand how verbs change to show past, present, and future actions. It also introduces irregular verbs, which do not follow the usual “-ed” rule for past tense.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this section, students should be able to:

Identify and use past, present, and future verb tenses correctly.

Recognize and use irregular verbs (e.g., go → went, eat → ate).

Change regular verbs to past tense by adding -ed.

Write sentences using the correct verb tense.

Examples:

1. Regular Verbs (Add -ed for past tense)
Present: I walk to school.

Past: I walked to school.

Future: I will walk to school.

2. Irregular Verbs (Do not follow -ed rule)
Present: She eats an apple.

Past: She ate an apple.

Future: She will eat an apple.
