Course Overview
The Grade One Language Arts Curriculum focuses on developing foundational literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Through engaging activities, students learn to recognize letters and sounds, form words and sentences, and express their ideas effectively.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Develop Phonemic Awareness & Phonics Skills – Recognize letter-sound relationships and decode simple words.
2. Improve Reading Comprehension – Identify characters, settings, and main events in stories while understanding key details in nonfiction texts.
3. Strengthen Writing Skills – Form complete sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation, and write simple stories and descriptive sentences.
4. Enhance Speaking & Listening Skills – Participate in discussions, respond to questions about texts, and express ideas clearly.
5. Expand Vocabulary & Sight Word Recognition – Learn high-frequency sight words and build a strong vocabulary for improved reading fluency.
