Grade 4 Eng Unit 3. Procedures 3

What It’s About:
Procedures are step-by-step directions for doing something. Understanding and writing procedural texts helps students follow instructions, explain a process clearly, and recognize order in informational writing.

Learning Objectives:

Identify and understand the steps in a procedural text.
Use signal words (first, next, then, finally) to follow and organize steps.
Write a clear and complete how-to or procedural text.

Examples:

Title: How to Make a Peanut Butter Sandwich
Steps might include:

First, get two slices of bread.
Next, spread peanut butter on one slice.
Then, add jelly to the other.
Finally, press the slices together and enjoy!
